Individual counseling is a healing process that can help guide you to your authentic self through a safe and supportive relationship. I offer traditional talk therapy, expressive therapies, and EMDR therapy all through telehealth. My style of therapy is compassionate and warm while also direct and challenging. I will endeavor to make you feel safe and supported while also challenging you to be more curious about beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you.
Sometimes words aren't enough to express your feelings. The part of the brain where emotions are stored can be accessed easier through somatic and experiential based activities. Using your own strengths and interests I might suggest an activity such as a guided meditation, drawing, musical expression, crafting, or movement. However, you are always in control and can choose to decline or alter the activity to best meet your needs.
Most diversity trainings tend to leave out one of the most misunderstood populations, neurodivergents. When I worked for an autism therapeutic day program, I immediately asked for trainings that helped me understand more about neurodiversity and how to combat ableism. I believe neurodivergent-affirming care means that you are not only validated but that your differences can be celebrated and respected. I also believe focusing on the behavior is often thought of as best practice, but that understanding the emotions beneath the behavior is often overlooked by other practitioners.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based modality that uses somatic and cognitive processing to target memory networks that may be impacting your daily functioning without having to talk about excruciating details. It's a modality that puts clients fully in control and allows them to choose what to share. It is often a misconception that EMDR is not appropriate for people who are in a state of crisis or dysregulation. This is not true, as EMDR therapists are trained to help clients build inner resources before processing difficult memories.
Caregiver consultations are a place to explore and adapt your parenting style to adequately meet your family’s needs in a nonjudgmental space. I believe every family has different needs and that caregivers are usually trying to do their best given their circumstances. If you're interested in learning how to support your child through a difficult time, a new diagnosis, or improve your child relationship, this service is for you.
Please reach out if you're interested in an individual professional consultation based on my specialties or if you're interested in a group presentation or training. Below is a list of presentations that I have already created. However, I am able to create a new one based on your specific needs.
